Soos met alles, word die beste vir laaste gehou, ook in die artikel oor“Al probeer ek hoe hard, ek voel nooit suskesvol nie” .  Dit is in die laaste paragrawe van die artikel waar ek my meeste 'A-ha"  oomblikke kry (dalk is dit net die blond wat lank vat)

"Konsentreer eerder op dit wat jy goed doen, sodat jy daarin beter kan doen.  

Ons hou ons so besig om op ander mense te fokus, wat hulle doen, wat hulle het, wat hulle sê en waarin hulle goed is, dat ons van onsself vergeet. Meeste van die tyd los die fokus op ander ons  net met 'n gevoel van minderwaardigheid - ons vergeet van ons eie sterk-en-goeiepunte. Dink net wat kan gebeur as jy daardie tyd op jouself begin spandeer.(moet nou nie self gesentreerd raaak nie!!) Wat jy alles oorjouself kan ontdek.  Jy gaan dalk al jou uniekheid en sterkpunte ontdek (en is dit nie wat ons wil hê nie?!  Om wonderlik oor onsself te voel?)

Nou wat nou gemaak as jy al die wonderlike dinge oor jouself ontdek het?  Wel as julle soos ek is, dink jy vlugtig daaraan en gaan voort om te fokus op wat jy nie goed kan doen nie - dinge wat jou negatief laat voel oor jouself. Die uitdaging lê egter in die volgende woorde van die skrywer:

Jy moet 'n wilsbesluit neem om jou sterk punte en jou unieke vaardighede te aanvaar en te waardeer."

Mmm...nogal 'n moeilike een om te doen, maar ek is bereid om die uitdaging te aanvaar, is jy?!

Omdat ek nie elke dag werk in dit waaroor ek passievol voel nie, of omdat my beroep nie van so aard is dat jy so makilk suksesse kan bepaal nie, is dit moeilik om my suksesse so te bepaal (volgens die wêreld se maatstawwe.)  Die wêreld se maatstawwe is meestal gebaseer op materialisme of op 'n kompitisie, dinge wat die meeste mense negatief laat of nie hulle beste eienskappe uitbring nie (eerder die slegstes soos jaloesie).  My geaardheid is so dat ek nogal 'n emosionele mense is en ook ingestel is op die mense rondom my,  vir my lê sukses baie keer in ander dinge as die "wêreld se suksesse". (goed wat nie altyd vir ander mense noodwendig belangrik is nie).  Daarom is ek mal oor die manier wat Victor Frankl ons aan raai om...

 "weg te beweeg van sukses en eerder na sinvolheid te streef.  Sinvolheid lê dikwels in die minder opvalende dinge. Soos om mense wat swaarkry te help of mense te laat glimlag."  

Nou dít is iets wat ek elke dag kan doen, wat my gelukkig kan maak en waaroor ek kan passievol wees.  Vir my is dit die kenmerke van sukses.(al is dit op 'n persoonlik vlak.

Net soos wat ''n mens uit nederlae moet leer, voel ek, moet jy ook uit jou suskesse leer.  Die belangrisste wat jy kan leer uit suksesse (volgens my) en uidie hele artikel/onderwerp,  is in die woorde van John Ortberg:

" Die belangrikste aspek van jou lewe is nie wat jy doen nie, maar wie jy word."  Die lewe is 'n ontdekkingsreis, een waarop jy jouself ook leer ken.  So sien elke dag uit daarna om agter te kom wie jy is en waarheen jy op pad is.   Geniet die proses."  En dit is my uitdaging vir die dag!

Met 'n vennootskap tussen Koos en Jak is dit nie net ervaring en jeug wat ontmoet nie, maar iets meer. Vriendskap wat die toets van tyd kan deurstaan. En eindelik 'n suiwer boodskap, met al die nuanses van die Afrikaanse alternatiewe musiektradisie, maar minus die bagasie van wroeginge en wrokke.

Die samewerking tussen Koos Kombuis en Jak de Priester en sy "band" is nie 'n konsert wat maklik in 'n blik gedruk kanword nie. Dat daar kontraste bestaan tussen die twee sanger-liedjieskrywers, is duidelik. Hoewel Koos en Jak se voorkoms en beeld hemelsbreed verskil, het hulle dieselfde vlymskerp humor, dieselfde verrassende vermoë om 'n boodskap met innige patos oor te dra.. Die ligte geskerts kan dalk herinner aan daardie eerste Kerkorrel en Kombuis shows in die Black Sun, maar weet dan dat daar hier en daar ‘n sweempie opstand en drif kan volg...

The West Coast Lagoon Festival held at Club Mykonos in Langebaan is an exciting weekend festival held annually in the West Coast resort town of Langebaan.
